Dana Irvine, ALC
Dana (They/Them) is a recent graduate of UAB, obtaining a Master’s in counseling on the clinical mental health track in the Summer of 2023. Dana explored many options for a career in mental health before settling into counseling and was on track for nursing school before finding the program they ended up falling in love with. Dana has a passion for people with marginalized identities, whether that be racial identity, sexual orientation or gender identity, neurodivergence, or just anyone who has ever felt excluded from the group. Dana also enjoys working with teens and young adults, or anyone in transitional times in their life.
Dana’s main theoretical interests are in individual (Adlerian) therapy, feminist therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). With these techniques, Dana likes to hold space for their clients and help people explore how all the factors in their lives have led them to this place and how to challenge the
systems and beliefs that have them stuck in different areas. Dana offers a space of unconditional acceptance and support, with gentle challenges where needed to guide clients in their growth.
